In 2022, there truly is a bike to suit every individuals budget and cycling needs, whilst this is a good thing when it comes to purchasing a new road bike, it’s easy to feel as though you can get lost and swamped with all the various options available to you. Let’s start off with the €1000 and under price range, whilst your options are limited at this budget you can certainly get a bike well capable of the tests of the Irish roads! If you want to go slightly over the budget to get a carbon fibre frame, the Boardman SLR 8.9 for €1100 RRP comes equipped a Shimano 105 11 speed group set and a carbon frame, it may be over the budget but you’ll get a great carbon bike for the money! The Giant Contend is another honourable mention for €999 whilst it is slightly heavier at 10.28kg it is indeed under the €1000 mark and is a great all-rounder bike with tyre clearance as wide as 40mm which will cruise over any rough Irish roads.
€1000 - €3000
When you get into this price range you gain a lot more options within your budget and can definitely get something a bit ‘flashier’ than in the previous price range. A bike we stock and are a big fan of is the 2022 Cinelli Veltrix with Shimano 105 group set and disc brakes! (Click here to check it out) The Veltrix is Cinelli’s endurance bike. It’s designed for those big days out on the bike and it utilises ‘Dynamic Race Geometry’ which means that the ratio between the top tube and seat tube never differs between frame sizes, offering the optimum position in the saddle for power transfer and aerodynamics regardless of size. It perfectly aligns the rider's centre of gravity, resulting in sublime handling. Cinelli are onto a true winner here with a great paintjob to match.
This is where you really have all the options, mechanical or electronic, 105, Ultegra or Dura Ace, there’s a whole host of options available to you here. At the start of the €3000 price range we have a Colnago V3 105 disc brake, a lightweight bike with an eye-catching colour and disc brakes making it a great choice if you’re in the market for a nice new Italian road bike!
